Christmas is the time to celebrate the end of an eventful and hopefully satisfying year with your loved ones while enjoying plenty of delicious food. As the holiday season approaches, we have prepared some tips on how to stay healthy while also not denying yourself the enjoyment of eating super-rich food in the company of people who have waited to celebrate it with you.

- Get enough nutrients:
You should try to fill half of your plate with vegetables while enjoying tasty food at every party or gathering you attend. The bottom line is that fruits and vegetables ensure you stay healthy among so many junk food choices. They are packed with nutrients and lower your risk of contracting certain diseases.
- Stay active:
Be active for at least 2½ hours a week and help kids and teens be active for at least 1 hour a day. Encourage the whole family to go for a walk at some point. This could be after dinner to aid digestion. It could be for a quick walk in the park or a game of frisbee or even making a snowman.

In the days and weeks following Christmas, everyone wishes to stay up longer to enjoy the company, the beverages, and the snacks a bit more. But keep in mind that sufficient sleep is essential for a good mood, good health, and a positive outlook — exactly what you want during the holidays. Try maintaining a bedtime routine in order to start your year off fresh.
- Keep colds at bay:
Colds are rife at Christmas, partly because many of us travel around the country, exposing ourselves – and others – to different cold viruses. Minimize your risks by maintaining a healthy immune system (eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep and not smoking will help), so you are more able to fight off any viruses.
- Mind your mental well-being:
Not everyone enjoys the holiday season, so a little bit of kindness might do wonders for someone else… and for ourselves. So, consider doing something for someone else. There might be many ways to guard your mental wellbeing but being kind and considerate guards someone else’s, too.
- Don’t stress:
Sometimes “joyful” is not how we feel over the holiday season with all the overspending, cooking, cleaning, endless ‘to do’ lists and visitors we could do without.
